TV Mounting Over a Fireplace in Austin
Over the fireplace is the spot most people want and the one most worth getting right: the wall is harder, the TV sits higher, and the wires have fewer places to go.

How I do it
What you get
The right anchors for the wall
Brick, stone and tile need a hammer drill and masonry anchors, set into solid material, not mortar joints that can crumble. Drywall over a mantel goes into studs like any other wall.
A height you can live with
Over a fireplace the screen sits higher than ideal. We mark it with painter's tape first and you sign off before I drill. A tilting mount angles the screen down toward the couch.
Where the wires go
On drywall above a mantel, cables can often run inside the wall. On brick or stone they usually can't, so I'll show you the cleanest option on site, like a paintable cord cover along the mantel line.

Questions
Before you book
Is it safe to mount a TV over a working fireplace?
Often, yes, but check two things first: your TV manual's heat and placement guidance, and how warm the wall gets with the fire going. If the mantel is shallow and the wall above gets hot, a different wall is the better choice, and I'll tell you so.
Can you drill into stone or brick?
Yes. That's the +$49 line on the price list. Tile is +$75 because it needs a slower, cooler bit to avoid cracking the tile.
